2008 Suzuki Hayabusa: First pics, video and details

In all its 197bhp glory, the 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa!

So this is it – here are the first photographs of the much-awaited 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa. Those who were expecting a radically styled new ’Busa might be slightly disappointed – the new Hayabusa looks like a mild evolution of the old one. And not a very pretty one at that.

The engine, as we reported earlier, is shared with the Suzuki B-King. The 1340cc inline-four (up from 1299cc on the old Hayabusa) has a higher compression ratio (12.5:1, up from 11.0:1), titanium valves, chrome-moly con-rods, and updated fuel injection. Suzuki claim a 12 percent boost in performance - a claimed 197 horsepower at the crank! Top speed is not likely to be more than 300km/h, though the new Hayabusa, which weighs 220kg, may accelerate harder than the Kawasaki ZZR1400.

Like the GSX-R1000, the new Hayabusa also gets a three-way drive mode selector switch, which should make riding the bike easier in wet weather conditions. Then there's the revised twin-spar aluminum frame, a more rigid swingarm, stronger rear subframe, fully-adjustable suspension, and radial-mount four-piston Tokico front brake calipers. Suggested retail price is US$11,999.

after close to 7 years, Kawi 'thought' they were on top. In just one year back to the drawing board they go.

I dont know what you kwaka boys are on but it has been a long time since you even saw the back wheel of a Suzuki and now it will be a distant memory again bye bye .

Ya, hell knows. According to Superbike 2006/09 the ZZR1400 and Hayabusa do the quarter mile in the same time with to Busa at 2.87 km/h faster. For a bike that have 53cc more in capacity, a higher compression ration and more than seven years later of technology, I think they suck in what they do. So much so that it is not even worth for Suzuki to redesign their bike in totality. I was praying for a 1500cc.Damn!!!

im ready to see one on the steet so my zx can eat it up!

The current Busa is by no means out of the game. I own both a 14 and busa and they are a real rush. But I also own a 1000hp T-Bucket that will eat them both!

Never judge a motorcycle by its looks.......you never know what this bike has....waiting for Roland Brown to cover it up beautifully and his comments on the new busa....

Nah I'm still getting the Blue 07' Busa, It's proven itself, besides I rather trade it in after a couple of years... when most of the bugs been fixed.

What's up with the butt-ugly ass on that bike?

The color of the bike is awesome and the front looks good but shit man, the back looks like a damn cruiser, not like a sportbike. Sorry but this bike recieves a low grade because the back looks retarded. I'm sure it's fast as fuck though.

I dont know why people would bother with the new Kawasaki 1400 or the new Hyabusa, I have a 2002 ZX12R thats Muzzy'd out putting 206 at the rear, my mate has a busa with similar figures with yoshimura toys, cost difference on trade in for a new 14, made it quite clear, spend 3/4 the difference on 1398 kits pipe etc etc and get more torque more HP - better still turbo a busa, these new models are tame and unexciting..

Just when you Busa fans thought you had it all. Rumor has it that on September 25th Kawasaki is introducing a really more powerful motor into the ZX 14!!!

The years have come and gone and I've seen a lot of speed on the market in terms of two wheelers.

I gotta tell ya for my money the new 2008 Hayabusa is gonna get it... it is to date, the biggest bang for the buck...

Please spend yours wisely...

Its not 197 HP. More like 194. Here is a mag site with the first test. Come on now this is the Busa motor unless Kawasaki lent Suzuki their high horsepower motor.

It is official. The new Busa is actually slower than the old Busa which makes it way slower than the ZX 14. Here is proof.

I raced a 2007 Hayabusa with my Ninja 1000 and smoked it from the get go. I even let off the gas and let it catch up! Still left it. The only thing I like about the Hayabusa is the way it looks from the side. If the 2008 is slower than the 2007, I need not look at it.
