...and for the 2009 Suzuki GSX-R1000, see here!

The 2008 Suzuki GSX-R1000. No changes apart from new paint and graphics, but it's still the most awesome litre-class superbike on the planet!

After the 2008 GSX-R750s and GSX-R600s which you saw here earlier, here are some pics of the 2008 GSX-R1000. Suzuki had made some radical changes to the GSX-R1000 last year so the 2008 model only gets lightly reworked paint and graphics. Still, with 185 horsepower from that 1000cc inline-four, and a dry weight of only 172 kilos, the 2008 GSX-R1000 continues to be the Big Daddy, the undisputed performance king of all litre-class superbikes.

The Hydrogen- and battery-powered Suzuki Crosscage concept

And while GSX-Rs are all very well, Suzuki have also seen Honda’s Evo6 and CB1100R, and decided they must do some concept bikes of their own. Hence, we have the Crosscage and Biplane concepts. The Crosscage, which says ‘Intelligent Energy’ on its fairing, has an X-shaped chassis and single-sided swingarm and front suspension. It’s a hydrogen and lithium-ion battery-powered hybrid, so… do not expect to see the Crosscage on the roads anytime soon!

...and this is the totally outlandish Suzuki Biplane concept. Weird!

The other concept is the Suzuki Biplane, which is supposedly powered by a V4 engine. And if you ride the bike, you’re supposed to feel like you’re flying a biplane with an open canopy. Doesn’t make any sense to us, but hey, this is supposed to be a ‘concept’ bike that’ll just be shown at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show and then it’ll be put away in the basement forever. Or until the next motor show anyway…

even if Suzuki hasn't made any changes to the 2008 GSX-R1000, it's still an awesome bike, certainly better than the 08 ZX-10R, Fireblade and R1. Gixxers rule! :)

both the crosscage and biplane are utter crap and these bikes will never make it to production. why bother even talking about these silly machines? of course, the GSX-R1000 continues to be awesome as ever. and very soon, I should be able to buy one!!! :-D

the Suz GSX-R1000 looks okay, but Honda and Kawasaki have made some radical changes to the Fireblade and the ZX-10R this year. Will the Gixxer be able to live with the other two? Should be interesting to find out! ;-)

what's with the biplane and crosscage concepts? has suzuki started serving too much alcohol in its corporate canteens? or there something wrong with the sushi..?

i absolutely LOVE that black gixxer with the red stripe around the rims at the top of the page. i know the exhaust isn't stock, but are the red stripes stock?
