Small new Yamahas, Honda unveiled in India

Over the last 10 years, Yamaha haven’t done too well in the world’s second-largest motorcycle market – India. Among others, the Japanese company has got a drubbing from local manufacturers like Hero Honda and Bajaj. Now, it seems Yamaha are ready to fight back with a range of new motorcycles.

At the ongoing Auto Expo in Delhi, they recently unveiled the stylish FZ150 and R15 machines. Both bikes are powered by single-cylinder, four-stroke, four-valve, fuel-injected 150cc engines that make about 20-22bhp. The R15's engine gets liquid cooling, while the FZ's engine is air-cooled. The bikes weigh about 130 kilos, and top speed should be around 140km/h.

When the bikes go on sale in about six months from now, they are likely to be priced at the equivalent of about US$2,000. More details at the Yamaha website here.

The Honda CBF Racing concepts looks totally cool!

Meanwhile, Honda also showed a new motorcycle at the Auto Expo, which we think looks very nice indeed. While we don’t have too many details, the single-seat CBF Racing concept is powered by a single-cylinder, four-stroke, 150cc engine.

The bike looks very stylish and has been fitted with USD forks, monoshock rear suspension, beefy swingarm which seems to have been made of aluminium, and an underseat exhaust. We quite like the way the CBF concept looks – hope it goes into production soon!
