Suzuki Crosscage: The first production fuel-cell powered motorcycle?


Soon, the makers of the mighty GSX-R might be making this fuel-cell powered Crosscage...

According to a report on MCN, Suzuki, who’ve already been working with the UK-based Intelligent Energy, have announced an extension of their agreement with the British firm. Under this agreement, the two companies will work on making hydrogen fuel-cell powered bikes in the near future. Last year, Suzuki had unveiled the hydrogen-powered Crosscage concept, and if things work out, this might just be the first fuel-cell motorcycle to hit the streets.

Speaking to MCN, Phil Caldwell, director of business development at Intelligent Energy says, ‘This is an important next step for our collaboration with Suzuki, as we move from a very successful concept towards a range of commercially viable fuel-cell motorcycles. We have developed an excellent relationship with Suzuki over the past two years and this agreement further strengthens our partnership.’

‘Our fuel cells are efficient, robust, and emit zero carbon at the tailpipe. Both Intelligent Energy and Suzuki are committed to the development of cleaner and more responsible vehicles for the consumer. The Crosscage is an example of what can be achieved when invention meets ambition, and we’re looking forward to the next phase in the relationship,’ added Henri Winand, CEO, Intelligent Energy.

Cleaner, more responsible vehicles? Hell, let’s buy that GSX-R while we still can…
