Suzuki Hayabusa GT: A 320km/h sports-tourer?

Suzuki Hayabusa GT, a 320km/h touring bike. Yes indeed...

This Hayabusa GT comes from Motociclismo, who’ve gone ahead and… well, imagined one! Well, since Kawasaki are already making their 1400 GTR sports-tourer, which uses the ZZR1400’s engine, one wonders why Suzuki haven’t gone down that route. Touring at 320km/h on a Hayabusa GT, anyone?

According to the Motociclismo mock-up, the Hayabusa GT would have a bigger fairing that offers more wind protection, height-adjustable windscreen, higher handlebars, lower footpegs, slightly bigger seat with more generous padding, anti-lock brakes and, of course, a set of saddlebags. Just add a wife (or girlfriend) and you’re ready to go…

It's a cute artist's rendering, but it has a lot of flaws in the actual design for use as a sports-tourer. It would also compete directly against Suzuki's own upcoming Stratosphere model, which is better positioned & designed to fill the sports-touring niche without simply going head-to-head with an existing Kawasaki in a me-too competition.

Curious, I looked at the Stratosphere model, ugh, though the motor is smart tech for touring the style and body look like a 125cc dirt bike! the Busa GT looks far better. Flaws? Every touring mod I saw for the Busa included windshield elongation, bar risers, seats.... anything to lessen the sport lean into a little more upright ergo. Besides this is 2010 and the Strat is still coming..............
