2009 KTM 990 Adventure R unveiled at EICMA

The 2009 KTM 990 Adventure R

After the 990 SMT and the absolutely brilliant RC8 R, the next new KTM to be shown at the EICMA in Milan is the new 990 Adventure R.

The Adventure R is fitted with KTM’s 999cc, liquid-cooled, LC8 v-twin, which now makes 114bhp at 8,750rpm and 100Nm of torque at 6,750rpm. The fully adjustable WP suspension comprises of a 48mm USD fork at front and monoshock at the back, with suspension travel being 265mm at both ends. The bike rides on 18-inch wheels, the brakes are Brembo units and the bike weighs 207kg dry.

The KTM 990 Adventure R does look just right for a jaunt around the world, with a television camera crew for company... :-)

This should be the last facelift before the release fo the 1190 ADV in 2010(?)

The 990 Adv R's front wheel should remain of 21-inch and back wheel 18-inch though.

This is by far the best dual purpose bike ever made.

If KTM would stop plastering such terrible "graphics" all over the side of their 990. The 640 gets by with a much cleaner look. The spiderwebs on the tank look like something off a japanese motorcross bike. The Adventure is the best dual purpose out there, is just doesnt look like it parked next to a GS Adventure.
