Husqvarna hits 25,000 units production mark under BMW ownership
Husqvarna recently celebrated its first major production milestone under BMW ownership – the company produced its 25,000th motorcycle at its manufacturing facility in Biandronno, in Italy. Huqvarna was bought over by BMW back in 2007 and seems to have now recovered from its earlier financial troubles.
‘I am very happy to celebrate another event just a few days after the inauguration of our new Headquarters and R&D Center. We now have the ability to create and build attractive new products at the highest level of quality and performance,’ said Rainer Thoma, President of Husqvarna Motorcycles. ‘In these two years, the production lines have been completely revised. We installed a new quality service and the logistics operation is now in the reconstruction phase,’ added plant manager Giuseppe Manacorda.
‘The company decided to continue investing energy and capital into the most updated production processes in order to remain a leading European motorcycle manufacturer. It is also remarkable that this investment has been made in the Varese area, which is traditionally known for the high professional standards of its people,’ says Manacorda.
Husqvarna, which was established way bacy in 1903, continues to specalise in off-road motorcycles. We quite like the brand and wish it had the resources to also enter the regular streetbikes segment. A lightweight, naked 400-600cc Husqvarna streetbike – one that’s fitted with a high-tech single-cylinder engine – should be good fun to ride. Someday, we hope Husqvarna will build such a machine…!
