Reliable or not, they don't make 'em like they used to...

In a survey conducted in the UK by bike magazine MCN, Honda motorcycles have come out on top as the most reliable of all bikes. Eight of the top ten positions were taken by Honda motorcycles, with the NT700V Deauville being voted as the most reliable of all motorcycles, followed by the CBR600RR, ST1300 Pan European, Honda’s CBR1100XX Blackbird, CBR1000RR Fireblade, VFR800, VFR800 VTEC and the CBF1000.

More than 12,000 riders voted in this survey, answering questions about their bikes’ build quality, reliability, handling, running costs, and engine and braking performance. We aren’t surprised Honda bikes were judged the most reliable, but we do believe Honda need to start building bikes that are a bit more exciting than the current lot. For inspiration, just look at the Aprilia RSV4 and the BMW S1000RR

Is the NT700V Deauville really a motorcycle? I always thought of it as a home appliance. Same as a washing machine or mixer-grinder, just slightly less exciting... :-D

You guys need to get over your fixation for the RC30 and RC45. Those were good bikes, yes, but hey, COME ON, a new Fireblade will kick their asses into orbit!!!!!!!

@Mack cheez - if you have to ask what the fixation is with the RC30 & RC45, you just don't get it and probably never will. I didn't know bikes were only measured by 'who can kick who's ass into orbit'. I believe this article was about something more other than speed.

The most exciting bike in the world is not a lot of fun if it sits in the garage being worked on, or worse yet, waiting for parts... Kudos to Honda for giving us bikes we can just get on and ride, day in, day out... You can have your excitement, I'll take Honda.

... FYI, the other two bikes in top 10 were Suzuki GSX1400 (fifth) and Yamaha FJR1300 (sixth).

It's a popularity contest.

How can the CBR600RR, a highly strung and Chinese-made 'super sport' be the 2nd most relaible bike in the UK?
It is simply a very popular bike that is reasonably reliable.

Facts: like how many miles does the bike do on average between breakdowns would be a better guide than popularity.
