The Vespa PX 125 and 150. The more things change, the more they stay the same...

With more than 17 million units sold worldwide over the last 33 years, the good old Vespa scooter is still going strong. For 2011, the Vespa PX 125 and PX 150 scooters, with their four-speed manual transmission (gears are shifted with the left hand, via a rotary shift mechanism mounted on the handlebar…), will still be available. With its minimalist styling, monocoque bodyshell made of steel, simple, near-indestructible engine and better weather protection than you’d get with most motorcycles, the legendary Vespa PX still lives on.

For 2011, new bits include a redesigned seat that can carry two people in comfort, improved headlamp, redesigned taillamp and touches of chrome. Now fitted with catalytic converters, the PX’s 125cc and 150cc air-cooled two-stroke engines meet Euro 3 emissions norms. And for those with fond memories of the 1970s, the scooters are still fitted with a kick-starter, though electric start is also available… :-)
