2012 Piaggio MP3 goes Touring
Piaggio have announced a new version of the MP3, their three-wheeled scooter – the MP3 Touring – which features revised styling and which, in addition to its regular line-up of 125cc, 300cc and 400cc engines, is also available with a 500cc engine in ‘Sport’ and ‘Business’ trim. An LT version, which can be ridden by those with a valid passenger car driver’s license, is also available.
The 2012 Piaggio MP3 Touring gets an adjustable split windscreen, which is supposed to offer improved weather protection and reduced turbulence at high speeds. The new scooter also has more storage compartments, improved ergonomics and newer, better materials for its seat upholstery. The MP3 Touring has 65 litres of load capacity and the ability to accommodate objects up to 1-metre in length.
The MP3 Touring 500ie, available in Sport and Business spec, gets a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder 492cc engine that produces 40 horsepower at 7250rpm – sufficient for a top speed of 145km/h. It also gets aluminium footpegs and sleeker, more aerodynamic rear view mirrors that boost the trike’s style quotient. This is one Piaggio scooter we love!
