New colours, longer-travel suspension, tweaked ergonomics, switchable ABS and a name that sounds a bit exotic - that's new BMW G650GS Sertão!
BMW have announced the latest iteration of their 650cc single-cylinder dual-purpose motorcycle – the G650GS Sertão. ‘With the new Sertão, BMW Motorrad has added a new, sporting chapter to the history of single cylinders in the BMW GS family. Yamaha bikes in the Honda hall at Twin Ring Motegi, and Italian-style pasta being cooked by a Japanese chef working in an Italian restaurant in Japan. Excellent!
This week, visitors to the Honda Collection Hall at the Twin Ring Motegi circuit, in Japan, will get more than they bargained for if they tour the Japanese manufacturer’s historic collection of motorcycles and cars. On the occasion of this year’s Japanese MotoGP race week, Honda have allowed Yamaha to display their racebikes as well, which have been placed amidst Honda’s own collection.
Among the Yamaha machines now being shown at Motegi are Max Biaggi’s 2002 YZR-M1, Phil Read’s 1968 RD05A, Kenny Roberts’ 1983 YZR500, John Kocinski’s 1990 YZR250 and Wayne Rainey’s 1993 YZR-M1. Yamaha are celebrating their 50th year in Grand Prix racing this year and Honda have, very graciously, allowed them to display their racebikes at the Honda facility.

The 2012 Integra (above) will be the first bike that will be fitted with Honda's new 670cc parallel-twin and second-generation dual clutch transmission...
Honda have announced the development of a new 670cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin for midsize motorcycles. The new engine has been developed for applications that require strong torque delivery at low to medium speeds and a high degree of fuel efficiency. Along with the new engine, Honda have also announced the development of their second-generation Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) for motorcycles.
According to Honda, their new 670cc engine delivers up to 27km/l in terms of fuel efficiency and can either be combined with a conventional six-speed gearbox or the company’s new, compact and lightweight DCT, which is smoother and more efficient than the earlier dual clutch transmission that was fitted on some Honda motorcycles like the VFR1200F.

The 2012 Fireblade is "feeling more fun in sporty riding and more joy of riding than ever before, whether it be on winding roads or at a circuit," says Hirofumi Fukunaga, large project leader (LPL) for the new CBR1000RR. Right on, Fukunaga san!
Honda have released the first offical pics of the 2012 CBR1000RR Fireblade, which also happens to be the 20th Anniversary Fireblade, what with Honda having launched the very first CBR900RR FireBlade back in 1991. The 2012 Fireblade was revealed simultaneously at the Le Mans 24 hours round of the Endurance World Championship in France, and the eleventh round of the 2011 World Superbike Championship in Imola, Italy.
‘I've got a real soft spot for the Fireblade. I've ridden it in many different racing events over the years and had a lot of success with it. In fact, some of the most memorable moments of my career have been on the Fireblade,’ said Honda rider and IoM TT legend, John McGuinness, while unveiling the new bike at Le Mans. ‘It’s pretty exciting and I'm honoured that I was chosen to do it,’ he added.
Honda have announced details of the 2012 CBR600RR, which is now available with what the company calls a ‘fresh Victory Red/Ross White’ paintjob. ‘Supremely compact and potent, the 2012 Honda CBR600RR delivers blistering power balanced by easy, natural handling and faultless road manners. This is made possible by ultra-light weight, mass centralisation and a compact chassis. The engine delivers immediate, exhilarating torque, while its fairing is aggressively aerodynamic, enhances stability and allows maximum enjoyment of the machine’s performance,’ says a press release from Honda.

Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for your patience. Mr Panigale is having a BMW S1000RR and an Aprilia RSV4 Factory for breakfast. He will be with us shortly
Ducati have announced a name for their 2012 superbike, the machine that will replace the current 1198. The new bike will be called the Ducati 1199 Panigale, which will be officially unveiled during the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, in November this year.
The Ducati 1199 Panigale (pronounced ‘eleven-ninety-nine Pan-ee-gah-lee’) will first see racing action in the 2012 FIM Superstock Championship and will make its debut in World Superbikes in 2013. We fully expect the 1199 to be a fearsome machine – its 1199cc L-twin is likely to be a fire-breathing, 190-horsepower monster and the bike will feature the latest iteration of Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and racing-oriented ABS etc.
Can’t wait for Valentino Rossi to unveil the 1199 Panigale at EICMA in November. Should be an awesome moment for Ducati.
