The 2013 Kawasaki Z800, finally unveiled at the Intermot...

Kawasaki have unveiled their new naked sportsbike, the Z800, at the Intermot show in Cologne, Germany. And yes, it looks pretty wild. With its 806cc liquid-cooled fuel-injected DOHC inline-four pumping out 113 horsepower and 83Nm of torque, the Z800, with its 229kg kerb weight, should offer pretty interesting performance in the real world.

For the Z800, Kawasaki have used a revised version of the Z750’s tubular steel chassis, along with slightly lower gearing for the 6-speed ’box. Running gear is kind of middle-of-the-road: 41mm adjustable KYB inverted fork and monoshock, twin 310mm brake discs at front with 4-piston calipers and standard ABS is all right, but the spec sheet isn’t as impressive as you’d find with some of the comparable streetfighters from Europe. Still, the Z800, which replaces the Z750, seems to be a step in the right direction for Kawasaki.
