Ducati have unveiled the latest Monster – the 1200 and the 1200S – at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy. The new Monster is powered by the erstwhile 1198 superbike’s Testastretta L-twin, retuned for better mid-range power delivery and rideability.
“The brand new flagship of the Monster family presents an entirely new chassis and muscular design, fully integrated with Ducati’s latest technologies. High-spec brakes, suspension, single-sided swingarm and lightweight wheels combine with Ducati’s best-yet ergonomics to offer the Italian manufacturer’s most attractive Monster ever,” claims a press release from Ducati. “Super comfortable and introducing an innovative adjustable seat height, the Monster 1200 also combines 8-level traction control, 3-level ABS and 3-level Ride-by-Wire into Ducati’s user-friendly, press-button Riding Modes,” it adds.
With 145bhp and 125Nm of torque from its 1198cc engine, and with a dry weight figure of 182kg, the new Monster 1200 / 1200S should be able to provide outstanding performance. The bike will be available in red, with red frame and black wheels, and white, with bronze frame and black wheels. In the UK, the Ducati Monster 1200 is priced at £10,695 while the Monster 1200S is priced at £12,995.
